Culture Assessments

The past few years in media — from #MeToo to events surrounding racial injustice — have sparked long overdue conversations around building civil, respectful and inclusive organizations.

Achieving these internal culture goals is critical to a news organization’s ability to produce the best journalism possible and to inform America’s diverse population. Our belief is that healthy newsrooms translate into healthy democracies.

Our team of experts in leadership development, organization development, diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging and the news industry created a custom framework to assess culture. It is informed by evidence-based diversity and organization development frameworks and uniquely tailored to media.

This tool goes beyond a one-time training and towards evidence-based practices to build inclusivity and fairness into the policies, processes and leadership of an organization. We pinpoint key challenges and provide recommendations for leaders to then effectively manage culture change.
