Kate O’Brian
Kate O’Brian is a seasoned journalist with over 20 years of gold standard leadership at ABC News and Al Jazeera America. She served ABC News in various roles from 1980 through 2013, ultimately as Senior Vice President for News beginning in 2007 until her departure. While at ABC, Kate received numerous awards including an Alfred I. DuPont and Peabody for her team’s coverage of September 11th and an Emmy for the 2000 Millennium coverage.
Kate was recruited to become President of Al Jazeera America in 2013 where she led the network to win nearly every major journalism award during her tenure, including the Peabody, Gracie, Shorty, and National Headliner Awards, plus recognition from the National Association of Black Journalists and the Native American Journalist Association.
In 2017 Kate founded O’ Media Strategies, a consulting firm to start up and traditional media organizations specializing in media strategy, content development, strategic partnerships, and talent assessment and management.
